-The Daily Texan

"Young Makins creates a sound that stands in the camp inhabited by James Taylor and David Wilcox...tunes possess a decided Texas influence, exhibiting potential that may blossom into something substantial."

-The Austin Chronicle

"Makins is a nimble guitarist who produces a cascade of notes. Especially noteworthy are small town stories "Old Town" and "Little Cafe," which call upon memories from a West Texas childhood and seem to be ideal Lyle Lovett material. He clearly is a promising singer/songwriter destined to command bookings."
